History repeats itself...the last time I was headed up to NY, it was a straight run from NC on the 4th of July. Now 3 years later I'm about to do that all over again. We're leaving tonight and going to drive what we can until we need to sleep, and then will resume again tomorrow. First big road trip as a family of seven, this should be interesting! Uncle Brownie will be following us with the moving van and our car on a tow dolly. Mmm I can see the gas reciepts now...
Since Dh has to drive back down to NC by Monday morning to sign in a few more times before he's officially released (yeah, dumb I know, but it saved on vacation days doing it this way), I'll be at some crowded "campground" with MIL and the kids. It shouldn't be too bad, we'll have our own big tent, new air mattresses and a cheap play pen for mobile baby. Then on the 9th we'll be headed to the new base for Dh to report to duty, and hopefully to find a house to rent for quick.
I probably should have done a bit more rental market research before being all "yeah pick NY let's go back home!" but thems the shakes. A nice place that is big enough for all of us is all over a grand, even outside the city. That takes up all or more of our housing allowance. And, it seems like their is a housing shortage (that or most landlords advertise in the local paper and not the internet) But, thems the shakes. I looked into buying but our credit is still bad enough that we can't even get a a loan even with the VA Certificate. Ah well I'll stress about that another day.
Baby needs me and I need coffee and have a million things to do still. Have a safe weekend everyone!
Admiring what my sugar mama got me for belated birthday present...
A beautiful new pair of Mary Jane Docs!
And now, provided you weren't blinded by my white legs, it's been a while since I've uploaded any kid pics. I took a minute to take some pictures of them right after my shoes...
Cedric has cut his second tooth last week and has just started sitting up all by himself. Yesterday he proved that he could scooch along on his belly. He's growing up so fast: he's over 7 and a half months already!
Cedric's ear finally healed up with some Burt's Bees diaper cream, the most immediate thing I had on hand. Thanks for the suggestion!
MIL arrived and will be here until Easter. So far she's been pretty pleasant. She also has her own space having her camper with her, so that helps.
BIL arrived here, in a comedic cosmic twist of fate, he was assigned to this base of all places. He doesn't find his assignment so comedic, though. He just wants to go to HI, lol.
I plan on going to my Mom's Friday and Saturday she's making me a brunch. I've also been promised my favorite - angel food cake with strawberries and whip cream.
Oh yeah, I'm staring down the big 3-Oh!
We found out last week orders are to report to NY in September. I think we're waiting for them to be "cut"? Dave is also seeing if he can get the date moved up. I want the kids to finish school here though. I'm really excited!
He said that he wasn't officially 8 until he blew out his candles. Thems the rules apparently. We were finally singing the birthday song at (at 9:20) around the time at night when he was actually born too. Which was 9:41pm.
This must be our fourth attempt at seeing that the kids have Chutes and Ladders. But isn't he cute??
