I think it's taken me about a month to recuperate from this move. We left a day later than we wanted to because it was only Dh and I loading boxes into the truck. The drive up itself wasn't too bad. Then I spent one long week at campgrounds with all of the kids with MIL, after that it was over two weeks at the hotel at Fr. Drum.
The hotel was actually nice. There was a huge new playground for the kids to go on, and we were able to save some money by cooking some dinner on available grills (there was no mini stove in the rooms, just a mini microwave). We had the worst luck looking for a place in Watertown. I liked the downtown enough in that 1880's NY Charm sort of way, but places in our price range were scary. BTDT not living with my kids in that again. Slums weren't our only problem. People were shiesty, impatient, and rude. One lady told me I couldn't possibly fit my family size in a 3 bedroom house. Another place, we didn't make enough money to qualify (barely), but it was built with military in mind!!! Our redonkulous idea of moving back to where we used to live and Dh dealing with 3 hours driving time a day started to look better and better. That's what we ended up doing, even though it seemed there wasn't much available here either.
Right now I'm recuperating from being alone with the kids for a week and a half straight. Our new house is small, or "cozy", with some faults but it's not terrible (we'll see how it really holds up in a bitter winter). Guess what, it's also a 3 bedroom, ha! I'm in a town I want to be in, but Dh's commute does suck. We also have a decent yard and a laundry line. I'm not keen on the no dishwasher and the washing machine having to be in the kitchen.

My living room is teeny because they took a lot of the downstairs and made it the third bedroom. I don't hate tiny though, it forces you to ditch some stuff. There's a lot of storage under the stairs and in the basement anyways.
When they are not driving me nuts and fighting or not listening to me, the kids are doing good lol. I think they are pretty settled - Rhiannon is not used to her own room yet though. Kieran has done ok going from his own room to being crammed in with his brothers (everyone's dressers fits in the upstairs hall area/play area so it all worked out). Cedric has gone from the army crawl to a "regular" crawl and has been cruising around for almost a month now. He's currently cutting his two top teeth at the moment and hasn't had an easy time with that.
can't think of a good way to wrap up this post so, that's a wrap.
